Is your mindset supporting you or holding you back?

Each thought we have (more than 6,000 a day) is a doorway to a different possibility. How we think about something leads us to an experience or outcome.

Thoughts point our attention to certain perspectives and select opportunities.

I've been looking at this in meditation and would like to offer a different perspective.

(If you know me, you know I love analogies so here we go...)

Think of it as different rooms within a home. Each room has a different theme, feelings, people, and experiences. Painted on the door of each of the rooms are different thoughts... beliefs, statements, and perspectives.

When we entertain a thought it's like looking into the room and seeing what it offers. However, a lot of times we will unconsciously walk into the room or maybe we were even born in it and think that is all there is.

Sometimes we may live our whole life or part of it in one room without the awareness that there are a million-and-one other rooms (or thoughts) to entertain or choose that are available to us.

This is great if the thought painted on the door is one that supports our wellbeing, opens up to our truth, and greatest possibility.

For example, "It is safe for me to speak and live my truth", or "I am worthy and enough just as I am", "I am a capable, empowered, entrepreneur', or "I can navigate anything that comes my way".

That would mean you are in YOUR room surrounded by what is true for you and living your best life.

But if we are stuck in a room with a thought on the door that is limiting, suppressing, untrue, or just feels bad, then we can live our whole life not accessing what is truly possible and not recognizing that we are limited and there is so much more that is possible.

For example, "I am only loved and accepted if I meet everyone else's needs and ignore my own", or "if I am open to receiving I will get hurt", or "I am not worthy of..." money, love, abundance, happiness, and so on.

Even noticing two opposite thoughts about one thing can create a huge energy shift in the body. Think of something and play with two different thoughts about the same thing... what do you notice for yourself.

The key is you need to believe the more empowering thought so it is in alignment with your truth. It isn't just affirmation or words to put a bandaid on, but stepping stones of higher vibration thoughts that are true to you.

The first step in an intuitive mindset is to become aware of what room you are in.... be aware of your thought.

  • What is the thought(s) you have about the area of life in question... be it your relationships, career, money, or spirituality.

  • Let whatever you find to be perfectly ok... no judgment, just pure noticing. Let it all be ok.

  • Next is choosing if you are content with where you are or if you would like to explore other rooms, other possibilities that open up simply by noticing your thoughts and recognizing you have the power to choose a different one.

Thoughts are energy. Just as feelings are energy. Both are information for you.

Thoughts tell you more about where you are, who you are, and give you awareness to either accept or not accept what the thought is showing you. From there, you have the decision to change it or not.

(It sounds so easy, right? But it really is a practice + skill so don't judge yourself when you find the same old limiting beliefs popping up!)

Awareness gives you choice. You can choose to change something or not. Either way, you are in a place of empowerment because you are choosing.

You can choose your thoughts.

Consciously choose the door to walk through.

You can entertain many different doors (thoughts) and see what each one holds for you.

Notice the difference in each room with each thought. What happens in the room with "this thought" or the room with "that thought".

  • How do you feel?

  • What do you envision in that room encapsulated in that thought?

  • What expands and what contracts?

Then choose the thought that supports the vision of what you truly want to experience.

It is a practice.

Noticing the thought.

Deciding if it serves you.

Then choose a different one... over and over again until you find the thought that represents your truth and supports what you desire to manifest and experience.

At first, it may feel taxing, but by learning this skill and practicing, it becomes a fluid experience that you may find is essential, creative, and empowering.

To know you are at choice and have the ability to change your experience and the trajectory of the actions to follow is incredible.

It creates a stronger sense of self-trust and knowing that YOU HAVE GOT THIS!
